What is a Promo Card?

A promo card is a card that is use to promote the current or up comming edition of a card series. They are distributed in a varity of ways. Traditionally they are distributed in magazines or other froms of media; this has the dual effect of the promotion sales of the magazine or parent company and promoting the new card series. Occationally one is given out as an exclusive item at a convention or other such event.

Promotional card collecting has become very popular. Due to their eratic (and sometimes regional) distribution collectors often miss a newly released promo. Some collectors never even hear about a card until it is on the secondary market.

Below is a list of all of the X-Files CCG promo cards with a notation as to where they were issued, how many were released and its rarity notation.

The above release numbers are the most recent quotes from USPC. According to that source these numbers are estimates. The actual release numbers may be 8%-12% lower or higher, with the following exceptions (which are exactly as stated): Deny Everything, No One So Paranoid, Chester Bonaparte, Smoke & Mirrors 1-5 and the Voyager Promotions exclusives. It should also be noted that "The Gregors" was not intended to be a promo card. It was accidently left off the Truth edition starter deck sheets (it was mistakenly replaced by a CSM X-File)
